New Alpine

I honestly doubt I'll ever buy an Alpine cd player again. I hate the w200's and that's the best thing they've got going right now. I'm sticking to my d300 for as long as I can, then I'll go to the d310 unless something better is out. The only other in-dash unit that's caught my eye is the Pioneer Z1, but it's too expensive for me...especially considering I couldn't hook up a processor to it.

Wow those new type-x components look hot. I was about to buy the old ones and the mid bass kit. Doesn't look like they are making a midbass kit out of hte new ones. Think they will work with the old one? Its the only older style type-x still on the site.

not much changed between the 9855 and the 9887, except for glidetouch, media expander ftl.........
In the catalog the CDA-9887 has some other processing additions (IMPRINT Sound with MultEQ Acoustic Correction - will have to see what it does), as well as a 24bit DAC.

I will definately take a look at that unit when it's released...

Apparently the IMPRINT technology is similar to that of the F#1 processor. It checks all levels and adjusts accordingly (time correction, slopes, x-overs). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ohsnap.gif.17c4c91be09a7a4a3995fb7145adac39.gif

Supposedly all of the new Alpines will have crossovers built in. The Type R subs are staying the same. They will be offering more amps, but no radical advancements there. Supposedly by June (ya right!) they will be releasing a IVA-W205 double-din that will have a slot to slide in a portable navigation device similar to the Blackbird. Yes, a screen that flips down and you slide the nav unit in like a giant CD. I have to see this to believe it. The displays on some of their Ipod controlling head units will actually have a disply that looks just like an Ipod, to make things easy for Ipod junkies.

Anyone familiar with Alpine knows how they tend to promise stuff WAY before it ever gets released. These are just things that I heard were coming down the pipe.

The Ipod Display is a Fireware update that will work with all Pulse Touch displays.

I would like to see that Nav fit in there too. Not like there is a lot of room in there for it.
