Well I just got the cruthcfield magazine and I was looking through it when I noticed a alpine headunit with a total cost of $1500! The funny thing is, is that there is no internal amp and no XM radio already built into it etc. So why so expensive I was j/c would any of you use this HU? I'm building an SQ system but I'm not sure if this would be truly worth it...input....heres a link to it...

I mean is it all just for entertainment or what? Kind of weird, that much money for an entertainment monitor that doesn't even come w/ the TV

» XM and SIRIUS Satellite Radio-ready (you can add satellite radio for under $100, plus subscription)

this is probably Alpines answer to the Clarion DRZ9255...
I seriously doubt that. It is totally different than the 9255. Its a DVD player, NOT a high end CD player. This thing is loaded with features and is probably NOT built with absolute SQ in mind as where the 9255 is. The lack of an internal amp is due the fact that if you're going to have DTS or Dolby Digital you would have to have an external processor and from that you would need 5 to 7 channels of amplification to run such a system and I can't see any head unit offering that many channels so they made the wise choice of keeping the internal amps out of the equation since they need alot more room for everything else that is going on inside that chassis.

Why so much?? Its a quality deck thats why. Its actually pretty reasonable when you consider all the things it does. I would be more weary of a deck that boasts all of these features and does NOT cost that much.

Who the hell would spend 1500 on a deck and want to use its internal amp(if it had one) and I doubt they would be listening to xm anyways. Well I dunno bout xm but my bros sirius is always cutting out and sounding like crap.

Cutting out and sounding like crap sounds like a hardware problem NOT a problem on Sirius's end of it. FYI I have XM and I never have reception problems. I've driven straight through from MI to FL and listened to the same few stations all the way down and even through Tennessee with all the mountains I never lost the signal.

Unless you want DVDaudio or are adding on headrestscreens/ a flip down I wouldn't get that deck...

Well, the only reason anyone would buy that deck would be because they plan on installing screens.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif I don't know where you got the info from but that deck does NOT play DVD-Audio, DVD-Video, DVD mp3s and DVD-Rs. NOT DVD-Audio.

Forgive me, I was under the impression from talking to our Alpine rep that it did DVD audio... I know it does 5.1 with the processor (Alpine=5.1 *****s)

Nothing to forgive. It was just an FYI. I only know of one deck that does play DVD-Audio and that is the Pioneer 7500 DVD deck and the MSRP is around 2400 bucks.
