Thinkin of total modifications on this one.

Well it looks like my girlfriend is getting a new pontiac G6 in February, so that leaves me with 2 cars again. I've always wanted to build a totally customized car that you only drive a few times a year so this is what i'm thinking of. The car is my 89 Mustang GT Convert.

What i'm thinking of doing is completely removing the convertible top and back seat area and putting in 2 15" XXX's. Also, i would be removing the dash and having a complete fiberglass job done on it with all new gauges and whatnot. there would be no need for AC/Heating vents or controls so this could offer lots of opportunities. Of course, there would be a nice 3 way set-up up front and tons of deadener all around. I have a secure place to store it, and i would only drive it locally to like car shows and car audio meets so no arguements to keep the top. I will keep the car so it will be able to be returned to stock condition (except the dash) in the event that it would ever be for sale again. IMHO it's a pretty big waste to take a car like that just to toss hundreds of pounds of audio gear into it and only drive it a few times a year.

5.0 Conv Mustangs were meant to have fun while driving. Your plan would totally ruin that.

i would do it like you want but make it still driveable...sure at car shows it would get its 15 minutes of fame but so are a few otheer cars plus if you cant drive it when you want...sorta takes the fun out of it. most of those "funky" show cars are factory or shop demo vehicles anyway.

agreed but since i'll have 2-3 nice cars anywys-this one will be my own little fun one. i could definately still have fun with what i got planned.

i would do it up how you want reguardless just saying the more you stick in it the more potential for headaches the wilder you do it the crazier it gets to fix........lol

you are forgetting that the top, frame, pump, cylinders all add up to over 200 pounds so there won't hardly be in increase in weight over the current set-up.

but still every pound starts to accumulate and by the time u know it uve got 50 lbs more then bfr then 100 then 1 million....just trust me on this one
