New ALPINE Amps

Some interesting things about these new amps that ive noticed....

They are all Class-D as mentioned above.

They put out the same power at 2 and 4 ohm - like jl kinda

They are stackable, and wiring connections on the back are setup to do this.

They are SEXY //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

They do NOT have the amp link capability.

The price will be cheaper than advertised on Crutchfield. I beleive they are even higher than the MSRP stated on the Alpine site.

Thats all I noticed... I have the other line right now, that supports the amp link, but really thats not a huge concern, cause once the equipment is setup there is no real reason to be mess with gains, bassboost, or crossover frequencies...

Yep, I'm curious to know how their Class D implementation sounds vs. other good Class AB amps...
Assuming they properly designed the amplifier (which, for that price point, should be a given)....you probably would not be able to hear an audible difference.

I've been seriously considering ditching my current amps and picking up some of these. They are just drop dead gorgeous.

Wow Squeak, that's quite an endorsement considering it's from you. What are you running now?

Also, isn't Class D a lot more efficient in power efficiency and doesn't tax the electrical system as much?

Coustic Design Reference and Soundstream Rubicon amplifiers (both highly regarded, old school amplifiers).

Yeah, much higher efficiency over class A/B, especially at lower power levels where most class A/B amps are around 33% efficient and most class D amps are around 65%. But, in all honesty....with no more power than frontstage amplifiers have the difference in actualy amperage draw is relatively insignificant. The main benefit is for large subwoofer amplifiers.

Take a 300w amplifier for example. Using 33% efficiency on a 13.8V electrical system, it'd draw ~36A. Take that same 300w with 65% efficiency at 13.8V and it'd draw ~29A. So, a net difference of 7A for a 300w amplifier.

But, every little bit counts I guess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

These have pretty good *** appeal IMO also....http://www.eclipse-web.com/amp/xa4000.html
That amp is definitely clean...but doesn't do it for me nearly as much as these new Alpine's do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
