congrats. But if after all the "id take a type r over an l7" that you guys said(and I'm mean a few folks not the ENTIRE TEAM)....just to make that clear. Some hypocrytical(sp?) advice ahead in the future?
Anyhow, congrats.
and let me add just to stop the Type R/Kicker battles. Both are great woofers, just with the addition of the CVX this year, it will make for some great head to head comparisons. And like mentioned, just because they have Kicker as support, does not mean they have to use Kicker exclusively. Each car, and installation could vary on what the end user wants and needs to compete on his level.
But, also mentioned, the L7 and L5 have been totally redone for 06, so this adds new meat to the table. But, they do not have to use Kicker only, so what works best for them, is clearly their choice.
I will own up to saying the type R has its advantages over the L7. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
That being said... the older L7's *are* louder woofers than the type R's, but the power handling in a low tuned box was much greater with the R, due to the essentially bottomless design. The L7's remained better fart woofs, while the R definitely sounded better and, relatively speaking, took more abuse. The L7 had more mechanical issues, while the 2" coil on the R limited it thermally.
The new L7's look like they have headed in the right direction, for sure. They would seem to be a much better street beater than years past... but of course, this is speculation until I have the woofs in my hand (which will be soon!).
You won't see any BS coming from this end... if the L7's prove to be a better woofer for a daily beater, they will get my nod. If they can handle the abuse of the type R while getting even as loud as years past... they will be one of, if not *the* best daily beater woofs out there.
The amps have definitely always been solid, but thats a different discussion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I look forward to reppin' kicker in the lanes, and have to thank the guys at kicker for the opportunity //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
