Well if any of your got the new car audio and electronics this month you probably read about the 42-volt batteries that will be goin into cars. First going into Hybrid and luxury cars, then finally making it to "normal" cars later probably in 2005. Everything will cost you less and head units will be 100w RMS...yea thats huge...also amps wont need so much power to run, and will also be 3 times of what they are now. For instance...if you have 50 watts at 2 ohms...that same 50 watts will be achevied at 4 ohms...and then 175 at 2 ohms, making it easier to get more watts in a smaller amp, and amps will probably be redesigned...well just figured I'd tell ya'll, incase ya didn't hear about it yet. If you want more info just ask....

oops, thanks...I'll change that. But you can still buy stuff...this isn't going to change for awhile...2 years is a long time. But the cars will still also have a step down 12-volt circuit on board so you dont have to change all at once...

it won't happen for like 10-20 years so by that time half if not all the guys on this forum will be in their late 30-50's lol. by that time almost all of us will be out of the game man lol.

But you gotta understand that everything will be cheaper...you can get 100w RMS from a head unit for almost the same price as what they are now at around 20w RMS...the same concept with amps, like I explained in my first post...If you want me to, I'll type out the whole article //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Maybe tomorrow though...I doubt it, it's like 4 pages...

I hope to be in my prime at that time and hopefully see a new era dawn on car audio. I will be one of the first to jump on the bandwagon as soon as a few good companies come out with decent products.

i dont have the artical with me but it said something at the end about a product out now that ups you voltage w/o drain on electrical system. Kindof like a stepup transformer i suppose. That seemed rather interesting and could be used in 12v cars with 36v equipment

Originally posted by Jmac Well, I highly doubt that they'll be able to come out with a 100 RMS x 4 head unit amplifier any time soon ... Remember that thing called heat ?
higher voltage means less current so...less heat, again i cant wait

Well it looks like I got the July issue some how...I just got a trial issue so I dont know what happened. Other wise you could just goto the website and look at it...dumb people sendin' me stuff ahead of time. raWr.

But I'm sure they won't be 100x4...I doubt it will even happen, they're just gettin' us all hyped up...meanies. Who knows, maybe atleast 50x4, that'd be nice.

we got some 27x4s out there

3 times the volts means 3 times the power

over 80 per channel

at the same current

Is that true 27w or that just advertised? If true, than thats 81w RMS with 42-volt batteries. I can't imagine turning anything up passed 15 after that happens //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif. I wonder if we'll beat the current dB records soon right after we get them then?

well we'll need some speakers that can handle it, but no doubt the power will be there

i was thinking of the alpines with v-drive that was the largest that came to my head

Hmm...so any speakers and subs that are from right now will basically be out-dated after the time that they put them in...looks like audio companies better start brain storming again for triple the watt handling...thats gonna be some tough material. Can't wait to see it all.

Originally posted by Jmac Yeah, the V-Drive puts out the advertised 27 RMS per channel ... So, theoretically, with a 42 volt system, it would put out 94.5 RMS / channel ...
How do you get 94.5 RMS? I get 81...27x3=81

Ah...3.5x27, why'd you do it that way? I'm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif.
