Hi,

I built a box to enclose my Kicker cvr 12's 2OHMS DVC. I built a box which is:

27" W X 17" H X 12" depth. Sealed (i hope)

Anway, I want to build a ported one for my truck. I just dont know what good specs the box should be and I know nothing about tuning boxes. Also, would my kickers sound better ported or sealed or bandpass box in truck?

Im also powering these beauties with the audiobahn a8000v which I want to replace once I get a good box built. I was looking for SPL but Im fine with SQ as well. I wish I could have both.

If you guys can help much appreciatted.

EDIT: Its an extended cab incase anyone was woundering and the current box has some room next to it

How does is sounds with that box? So the sub is facing up and the port? My current box seems to sound better facing forward than up.

Also Im thinking he doesnt put the seat all the way back?

Any other good box designs?

that's not the box he had this is the box that he had>>> http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported-box.asp?Ew=21&Eh=14&Dia=6&Xmax=15&Vd=0.23&NumW=1&Vb=2&Fb=33&Qts=&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0

MAW-12 sub up port up did good but sub and port to the side away forum the driver did bast a lil better low end

Im still pretty new to sub box building. I just want my system to have a little more spl and hear the bass lower which is why I wanted a vented box. What is subwoofer displacement? Im not exactly sure what that means. Also is my box keeping my subs from being more powerful? and what kind of box should I build to make them sound more powerful?

Thanks for info cool cats.

Unless you have a lot of space for your box a properly designed sealed box will actually have a better chance of playing lower notes louder.

well im willing to go to 34" wide and as depth 14" but height I can go bigger than 17". So for a sealed box what is a good spec then for good low? Also what should be my estimated db with a sealed box for my subs?
