Need your opinion on this HO ALT

Alright, I'm in need of about 200 Amps for my setup in my 2000 F150, found this Alt on amazon for an incredible low price

Amazon.com: New 200 Amp High Output Alternator for Ford E-series F-series 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004: Automotive

it's $240 retail but $180 after discount, however I'm a bit skepticle about its ratings, its reporting 200 amps at 1200 engine rpm.

To me, it sounds "too good to be true" however, I figured I'd let you guys take a look at it. I really don't want to drop $300 on a HO alt from mechman, but I'm one of those people who have to know everything is the best. There is only one review on the alt, but on the other reveiws for different alts by the same company, people report that they don't make rated power. Perhaps you guys could point me to a cheap

Just be glad it's only 300 for a mechman for your truck. Most alts are 400+.

Don't waste your money on it.

It will either not do rated or crap out on you quick.

these are actually decent alts and they do rated(atleast my friends did).... when he benched his he got his 200amps @ 1500 rpms, and it did 175amps 1200 which is still pretty good for the price.

this is the alt he had :Rakuten.com - NEW HIGH AMP 250A ALTERNATOR 1996-04 CHEVROLET TAHOE 4.8 5.3 5.7 321-1107

its also from rareelectrical as well, just came directly from them. he had it for like 1yr and a half until he sold his truck like 5 months ago and the alt was & still is working to this day. so now its going on 2yrs old and going strong

I'm really debating on just taking the chance and buying one then benching it to see the results. Thankyou for the information though! I've seen you around the forums quite a bit.

Don't cheap out on your alt. You'll regret it.

Cheaply made alts are just stock alts that have been rewound for more output. They WILL overheat if you abuse it much at all, properly build HO alts will take a beating and keep on going.

if YOU say so. no one really knows if somethings just going to automatically fail just because its "cheaper" then others. the alts they make for my blazer are the same cases that DC POWER uses on blazers like i have. like i said its his decison tho, again my friends he got from there has lasted right at 2 yrs and still works
