Need to know about Batteries and how long my system will last without starting!

I have a 2007 mastercraft x2 boat. It is nice and I dont want to rack up hours running the engine, however the problem is I have 2 powerfull amps, 4 subs and ten speakers. I was wondering what would work to get some more life out of it and not rack up hours! I was thinking two kinetik batteries would hold it over for almost an hour??? Advice is much appreciated!

THIS would be the proper use of a battery ISOLATOR.

what are said powerful amps? and what kind of enclosure are your subs in?? I'm guessing sealed.

The one amp is a jl 1000 marine, and the other I believe is a multichannel 800. The subs are all inset in the compartments the cones stick out they are marine grade. THe one sub is in a custom enclosure to look more cool I guess, but the entire boat is all fiberglass soo really its its own enclosure!

Before I added 4 more speakers, and another sub it ran for about 20 minutes, then it wouldnt start, so that is all I am basing things off of right now!

Kinetiks are heavy..Powermaster makes some lighter batteries for racing. You might look them up before you decide. You can get a voltmeter w/alarms I believe also that would help you keep your audio batteries from draining too low.

An isolator will do what it says, keep your starting battery separate from your aux batteries.

AHHH like the isolator idea, sounds good dont want to be stranded. I dont care about weight I take on about 3,200 lbs of water in this boat.

get a couple of the kinitics or stinger dry cell batteries and iscolate them, those should last a few hours or so if you dont have your stuff cranked, and just have a voltage meter like the other guy said, its the best way to go, that way you never drain your starting battery, the two batteries would weigh 110 pound at the most, ( 2 stinger 1500's )

Again weight doesnt matter to me, when we are wakeboarding and surfing the boat has a minimum additional weight of 3,000 pounds extra. So 2 2400's would be equivilent to running like 4 standard car batteries, Right?

What you need to do is get a manual battery selector switch. Usually made by the brand PERKO. It has 4 positions 1, 2, 1/2 (all), and off. Put one good starting battery on the 1. Then get one or two good batterys kinetik, optima, sea volt, etc.. and put those on 2. Then you hook all of your boat's electronics and power wires and your amp power wires to the common on the perko. Now when your sitting in a cove or wherever you put that selector on 2 and you only drain from the dedicated stereo batteries. When it gets low you can turn it to 1 and start your boat still then turn it to all while the boat is running and recharge ALL of your batteries. I work at a marine audio place and this is what we do with all of our substantial systems. Do not use a automatic battery isolator or relay... doesn't work good for this environment. Let me know if you have any other questions with your boat system!

btw what all does your system consist of? amps, interior speakers, tower speakers, and headunit?

Oh with two hc2000 kinetiks on most of our boat systems it is 3-6 hours of play time.

Thanks I am totally going to do that! I will just run my standard starting bat with two kinetik 2400's. Right now I have 6 JL 770 in the boat, 4 custom Blue fiberglass tower speakers with 4 jl 770's. Four ten JL with one being in a pretty cool fiberglass mount under the dash. One jl 1000 and one 800 amp! Sounds pretty bad *** but we still need to rig batts and tune it out on the lake with it running! Thanks, Travis

Yeah with that system you will be able to run atleast 3 hours just on your kinetiks
