Need to get a 2way alarm and...

Well I've scoured on here for a bit for advice about alarms, brands, etc.

I was looking at:

C3-RF525LCD - 2-Way Communications - AutoPage

because I read that they were easy to install and they seemed to have clean remotes, and good features.

Anyone have suggestions? Don't need remote start, have a manual. Just want good protection, 2 way remote, and ideally would like to install it myself to save on costs. But if I can get a sweet system for a good deal, I may have the installer put it in if I find "that system"... ya know?

if your manual is that Z, you can still get remote start. Nissan's have neutral safety wires.. I wouldn't be without a RS now! great for AC and Heat.

If you want to stay on the cheap I'd get a Viper 791xv, or a Viper 5900. Both are great, reliable 2 way units with multiple Aux outputs and good range, what more do you need?

Those easy enough to self install? I've done alarm self installation before, but not a remote start.

I think I've deterred away from remote starts because of hearing peoples stories of their cars jumping forward in gear(which I never leave it in gear, but it only takes once)

Those particular Viper alarm/RS's look to be between 2 and 250 without doing some searching for a good eBay retailer(ebay blocked at work). Seems autopage is a bit cheaper and the remotes seem better. Also, had a bad experience in the past with viper and the alarm unit wouldnt lock/unlock right next to the vehicle. Could have just been a bad manufacturing of that particular unit though.

the quality of the Viper remote on the units I mentioned is good, they are sturdy (much more than the brand new DEI units) and simple, clean imo.

OP, remote starters can be put in Nissan's safely as they have neutral safety wires. The car, when in gear, will not start if installed properly. the wire puts out a Neg when in neutral, and in any other gear, changes to either positive, or nothing. This is perfect for DEI units' NS input (black/white) wire.

And is this all easy enough to do self installation? Like I said, I've done a normal alarm install before, but not a RS

as far as the NS wire, its just making sure you have the right wire, and connecting it to the proper wire on the RS. You'll need to power up the clutch (probably through a relay would be best) OR grab your starter on the other side of the pedal. People here can help you if you have any questions, I've installed plenty of RS's safely in many Nissans and a few Subaru manuals.

Methods on hooking up an RS aren't that different than an alarm, just make sure you have good schematics and test before you call it finished.. and ask questions because its fairly easy to destroy things in a car if you're not careful. Bypasses can be tricky but again, theres lots of knowledge on here.. If you have a second key you can bury it in the car and use that for your bypass, or you can use a keyless bypass and program it to remember the chip, they're a little more $$$ though - but I'd suggest this method!
