port to the rear is the loudest. as far as the woofer direction. when sealed, downfiring, but ported, with upfiring you can gain more airspace. just counter sink the woofer so it doesnt hit the seat.fire a two 4" aeroports to the rear. having the sub/ports on the same plane isn't important, well, as important as some people believe. IME, sub firing down, ports to the rear is the loudest in these trucks, if your staying under the seats.

i also have a ton of experience with extended cab chevy's. my dealer and i have been playing with mine for over a year now. now like 4 or 5 boxes down the road, two 12"s sealed, two tens sealed, a single ten ported, we ended up with two tens ported. the bass soudns absolutly great. very tight and energetic, not to mention loud. next i think he wants to try three 8"s ported.
