Alright...
I have a 1992 Mitsubishi 3000gt VR-4. The speakers are blown and chirp, to add insult to injury the bass is non-exstitent. I have 6 1/2 front door mounted speakers.and likewise in the back.
What I need...
1. I do not need the entire street rattling as I cruise, nor do I need my ears to bleed. That being said I would like some very nice and reliable middle of the road speakers as replacements. The Bass needs to improve because its pathetic and I want shit that is reliable and won't blow out.
2. I am willing to add a sub but my problem is that this is my everyday car and I do have to haul some big stuff with it so I would like to avoid, or get a smaller size sub if possible because I need the trunk space.
3. I have a $150 gift certificate from x-mas at a story called "car toys" in arlington TX. They have lost my trust as they wanted $275 for install. I asked how long and they said 2 hours for 4 speakers and a sub/amp... thats $137.50 per hour labor... screw them. I called the guy that custom painted my car and he said that he had a guy that would do it for $120. I have to at least spend $150 at this store because they won't cash out the gift certificate.
4. I do want to keep this project under $500 including the $150 gift certificate. Under $400 would be better. I saw some speakers that I like and they glow blue which is the color of my car. They were Dual xingx53. The sales guy said that they were crap and guaranteed they would break. Since he was a crappy sales guy I couldn't tell if he was pushing for more commish or if the speakers actually ****.
5. I want decent good bass, reliable speakers, and (this is dorky but I like lit up glowing speakers but its not a must have).
What is the going rate for install?
What will work well for what I need?
What are good speaker that glow or should I give up on this?
What sub is good but small?
What amp will I need?
