Need something for 2 12w7's

I'm looking for ideas for an amp to power two 12w7's. Somewhere in the 700-800 dollar range. I'd like to have something right around 2000w, maybe even a touch more for headroom, just so I don't have to risk toasting it. The subs are 3ohms, so the power is needed at 1.5ohms, so more or less 2000w range at 1ohm.

def for 700 to 800 gets a mmats amp as you wont have to worry with electrical upgrades because of its 120 v rails it is very effecient and small

if you want amazing sq and have room get a vlx-400 for that price 2400x1 but its huge old school us amps amp

The US Amps VLX-400 is too much for the two W7s, I'd recommend the "more modest" USA2000X, which does 3010 watts into a reactive load and will make your W7s cry for their mother.

Your subs will be wired to 1.5 ohms so with box rise you'll be at atleast 2 ohms. I would look for something that does 3000 at 2 ohms. With box rise and correctly set gains, that should give you exactly what you need. An Audiopipe would be good but they are on the lower spectrum of quality. There is an AB Vfl. 400.1 on here for sale that would be great.

I never said to give them 3000. Did you read all of my post. If he knows how to set gains then the best thing would be something that can do 3000 @ 2 ohms because of box rise, the point where clipping comes in, and over head. I highly doubt box rise will only be .5 ohms in his box anyway. He needs 3K @ 2 ohms if he wants those subs to even see rated.

you've never owned a w7, I understand what you're saying about impedence rise. I wouldnt give the pair more than a clean 1500 watts. a 3k watt amp is overkill.

Not when imp rise cannot be calculated. A van with 2 DD 9512's wired to .5 ohms was seeing 5.4 ohms at the amp. For all we know a 3K @ 2 ohm amp might not be enough for the W7's to see 1500 a pair. And even if it might be over kill, it will give him clean power with good over head. If he knows how to set gains then he shouldnt have problems.
