Need some techs to speculate :

I have been doing alot of research lately, and came to a decision for my price range and budget of what I want to buy and setup for my next system.

The three subwoofers I cannot make my mind up on are as follows.

A pair of:

Sound Stream T4

or

TC db500

or

Alpine Type R

I own a 1986 420SEL Mercedez Benz, I am about to drop $8,000 on a new used Toyota 4 Runner

That in mind, they may find themselves in the 4 runner later this year.

So , between those three choices, I have done this on my part ! I have watched many of these subwoofers on youtube, and ROE .

I want a sub with great accuracy, replays sound very LOUD of course, with the highest possible SPL without sacrificing transient responce like a sealed box has. Yet want as much efficiancy as possible as with a ported enclosure.

I see alott of OMFG killer Arse video's of the TYPE R's, and they seem to be a favorite for a reason. I dont like always going with the Commons, but cannot find video's on the TC db500 subwoofers, and many of you competitors here talk very highly of this companies products performance(TC 2000, 3000 etc..) .

I only included the Sound Stream T4 , because of a video I watched on them and some things I read about them. They cost a bit more though than the other two selections. So please some relative technical and experianced advice is preffered. Opionions with best of interest also welcome. AKA what do you guys think ? I want to spend no more than 300$ total for the pair, and would really like to be around 200$

Depends on what you want

Rs: More SPL

dB-500s: More SQ

I wouldn't even consider the SOundstream an option. I don't think I've seen anything good said about their subs on here.

Sound Quality ! Yet something I can play with If I want to throw them into a ported box, I want something that can hit the low's. I dont wish to compete, but I want to know those subs are going to last !

So since no one talks about Sound Stream subs ! I guess those are out unless someone else post's otherwise about them.

Between the Type R's and TC sounds db500 is what I am narrowing down too.

I read that the db500 has a foam surround is that going to be a reliability issue as opposed to the Type R ?

dB-500s then. Type Rs are a great daily driver sub if you don't care too much about sound quality. Plus the Rs want around 750w each to reach full potential. You'll get plenty loud with the dBs, and you'll have SQ superior to the Rs

Thanks....

Ok, so far TC db500

dang .... I hate sacrificing decibals to SQ .. I want them BOTH //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They show both on the website for some reason. I know they only had paper cones when they first came out. You might just be able to choose. Just call up TC and find out before you buy.

I've seen several people state this, im just curious what's wrong with aluminum cones? I have 1 12 tc2+ which is almost identical to the db-500, and it has an aluminum cone
