Need some suggestions

You can see my system in my signature. The BA Z6's (a complete set) have not been bought yet (maybe tomorrow). Anyway, my questions are:

1) Should I run an 2 way active set-up (w/ the Z6 mids and MT-23 tweeters)?

or

2) Just run the Z6's w/ their passive xover? and biamp with the 2 350.2's? I haven't checked, but I'm sure the MT-23's wouldn't work well with the Z6 xover.

I really want to use the MT-23's...I think they sound awesome. Problem is...I never ran active and don't know the first thing about doing so...although I could figure it out quick. Anything I need to be concerned with?

If I ran active...should I get a more powerful amp for the Z6 mids and keep 1 350.2 for the MT-23's?

Any help or suggestions here guys? Thanks.

Nah, the only difference is that you have a set crossover point with a passive setup. Active > Passive in every way.

And what are you doing with that processor if you don't want to run active?? :p

Ummm...the 5.1 sounds good. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif LOL

I know...I know...I'm gonna take the plunge in the active pool.

Exactly. You really would benefit from running all active with that bad boy. I don't know about running the Z's active though...kind of a waste of a mighty fine passive network...I mean just look at that **** x-over //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

So either keep the Z's and sell me that 701 for $1, or sell the Z's and get a mid that with match well with that tweet.

Running all active is not as intimidating as it might seem. If I can do it, anyone can do it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

HA HA suckers...I have one and you don't. LOL j/k

Seriously, I intitially bought the H701 to run active...just wanted to research a bit before I did.

lol...you better use those tweets
Oh, I'm going to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Can you recommend a mid that will mix well? I was looking at the ID CX62. Thanks.

EDIT: I want something loud (of course) and still be accurate and detailed but not lose the midbass.

Honestly, I'd think the Dyn mw160's would work very well with that tweeter.

But it really depends on budget and what power you got for them. By all means I'd say try the Bostons active first since you have them. I dont care how nice the passive is, ditch'm and put some power behind'm and see what they are really made of before spending any more money.

Yea you could run the Z mids with the tweets....but I thought you haden't even installed them yet?? This might help in that case: http://www.soundbuggy.com/Eric/Car%20Audio/random_car_audio_stuff/boston_z6_crossover_response.jpg
There are so many mids to choose from though. What is your price range??
I haven't bought the Z6's yet. I haven't bought any mid yet, merely looking at the Z6's and since I was, I thought I'd just buy the complete set-up and experiment.

But, since everyone was ragging on me about not running active w/ the H701...which I was comptemplating anyway...I thought I would.

Thanks for the link...but, I'm not quite that savvy when looking at freq charts though. LOL Another reason I haven't ran active yet.

So, my budget for mids? No more than what I can get a set of Z6's for ($500-$550). The main thing is I want accurate detailed mids that have great midbass and can get loud, but not lose any of those qualities when doing so.

I was looking at the ID CX62's, since they are 2ohm and get a little more power to them w/ one of my 350.2's. But running at the lower ohms could create more distortion...not sure if you would be able to hear it though.
