Going Active: Suggestions for mids

Ok I'm getting ready to finish out my front stage and I'm trying to get some ideas on what mids to pair with my ID horns. I've got a eclipse 8053 deck, I am most likely going to buy my friends zapco 350.2 to power them. I want some clear loud out put, enough to keep up with the rest of my system. With that being said, I've been lookin into the fallowing.

Adire Extremis

Dayton 8's

IDQ 8's - if I can find any

Mpyre 65X

Peerless 8's

I really think the Mpyres look impressive, but I'm afraid they will leave to big a gap, how high do these play? The extremis look to play plenty high but I don't know if they will have enough output for me, how do these compare to output as to the others listed?

So what is yalls opinion Any other suggestions?

How high do you need them to play. You'd have to look at the FR graphs first, right??

Were you going to mount them? Since they are a dedicated midbass, you'd have to have one hell of a dead door.

I've heard good things about Peerless. But Dayton is probably your best bet if you're budget sensitive.

I can afford 300 bucks on a set of nice mids, if its what I need. I dont want to have to go 4way, my deck does 3 way, I need some mids that will fill the gap.

lol when i meant 2 way i meant your front stage. just my personal opinion, i wouldn't use an 8" for both midbass and midrange.

if you want nice midbass, get the Seas L18. it'll slam while maintaiing pretty good midrange.

I'd like them to at least get into the 1.2k range btw. I know this is a bit of a stretch, I really would just like to use the 3way my deck provides rather than having to go 4way, plus its very hard to do kicks in an SS from what I have heard.

LOL, sorry for my newb post... As for the seas, have you used any personally

I have ID horns, and actually was able to pick up a pair of IDQ8 Dual 4ohm drivers a couple of months ago. The Zapco 350.2 is perfect for them, and a 200.2 would be good for the horns. I haven't had the money to buy my amps, so nothing is installed yet. Do you know what EQ ur gonna use?

It took me a couple of months to find my IDQ8's. Be prepared to spend about $250-$300 for a pair in good condition. I talked to a tech at ID before I found my IDQ's and he gave me some parameters to look for when shopping for midbasses. As for the Seas L18's, he told me to go with a paper or poly cone midbass, if I remember correctly those have aluminum cones. My suggestion would to be to call ID, they have great tech assistance and well help you out ALOT!

how do the horns and 8's sound together? Is there a gap at all in the midrange?

I haven't got them installed yet, so not sure how the 2-way setup will sound. I want to have nice SQ, but not really going for a competition grade SQ...according to the tech at ID it will be a good combo when tuned correctly. The next choice for midbass I had were the Morel HU9.1's ($157.00 per woofer on madisound.com)

The statement about the cone material is simply false, and a bad generalization based on only one aspect of a driver. The L18, with its aluminum cone, has some of the lowest distortion in bass frequencies of any driver (it beat the Extremis and even the Seas W18NX in a zaphaudio test). Also, $250 is pretty steep for a pair of IDQ8s. I'd expect them to be $175-200.

I'm using Dayton Reference Series 7's in the doors. I've got them x-over at ~1650hz, and they sound great.
Just an idea.
Yea, I really kinda like the idea of running some daytons for right now, just to have something to bump to, and then going in later and adding something crazy. How is the mid bass on those
