Over the next year, I'm going to be putting a new system in my car. I need some advice on what to get, so I can start planning it out.
Head Unit- Pioneer P880PRS
How many of you have had problems with this head unit?
I'm open to other suggestions, it needs to be around the same price as this one with decent sound quality, the ability to play mp3/wma's, time alignment would be nice, easily accessible pause button, ipod compatible would be great too.
Components- ?
I'm not sure what to go with here. I'd like to be able to use the stock mounting location in the door, but it only has a mounting depth of ~1.9". I can make a .75" spacer fit, so I guess the mounting depth needs to be around 2.5". I'd like to keep the price around $250 at most. I'd like them to have decent midbass, but not so much that it's overwhelming. I'd rather have a softer tweeter too, rather than a harsh one.
Amps- ?
I'm not sure what to go with here either. My goal is around ~2700-3000 RMS total. I'd like to keep the amps the same brand, if possible. I know it doesn't matter, it just seems to make the install look better IMO.
I was thinking about going with Kicker amps, maybe a KX2500 for the subs and a nice two channel for the components.
Orion amps aren't out of the question either.
Subs- 1 or 2 Fi 12" BTLs
I'm jumping on the Fi bandwagon. I just like having something that no one else knows about around here and it's nice to see the looks on people's faces when they're expecting it to be quiet and it's the exact opposite.
I'd like to keep it just one 12. It's a lot more of a surprise to people when you tell them that's all you got. Two 12s aren't out of the question, it just might be hard to get them in my trunk.
Sound Deadener- ?
I'm thinking about going with Second Skin. How is it compared to the other brands? What would you recommend buying? I'd like to stay away from any liquid form of it, if possible. I'm also not sure if I'll be doing the whole car yet or not. I guess I need to start thinking about that..
Electrical
I'm going to try and see if I can get a Mean-Green alt for my car, but if not I'll probably go with EA. It seems like every alt company has good/bad reviews so I'm not too sure about which company would be better..
As for batteries, I'd like to get a Kinetik HC1800 for under the hood. Kinetik seems to be a reputable brand from what I've read. I'm not sure if the HC1800 will fit or not, so I'll have to measure first and see. Would another battery be required? This is going to be a daily setup for the most part, but I may enter a few local competitions, but nothing major.
I'd like to go with Knukonceptz for wire, since I've never had a bad experience with any of their products.
