Need some suggestions for speakers for my Syclone :)

Looking for some ideas for speakers for my Syclone. It is basically a 91 Chevy S10 standard cab, I have 4x6 plate speakers up front and 4x10's in the back. I already have a set of Cadence 8's and a Kicker IX 1000.1 for subs, so bass is covered. I'm looking to run either the Kicker IX 500.2 or 500.4 for mids/highs:

IX Amplifiers | KICKER

I have considered kick pod speakers as well, but would prefer not to go that route if I can. I really have enough going on under the dash already with all the performance upgrades to the vehicle.

Any suggestions on speakers in those sizes (or other sizes that are a fairly easy conversion) that will match well with either of those amps? Thanks in advance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Both of those speaker sizes really ****, you may want to go with a 4" speaker in the dash and 6.5's in the kick if you can fit them.
We are on the same page as far as the current speakers and sizes. I'm trying NOT to add kick panel speakers (there aren't any there currently). If you saw the underdash / behind the kick panel wiring right now, you would understand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As for 4" speakers, I'm sure I could fit some where the 4x6's are. Any suggestions?

Depends on your budget. Can you do fiberglass?

Not currently one of my talents, although I have a few friends that can. What are you thinking?

I really would like to keep the mids/highs nice and simple. Hell, SOMETHING should get to be simple with this truck lol.

You wont have the room for a PG Cyclone in your GMC Syclone w/o cutting through the cab and the bed and as limited/rare as the SY is becoming, that's a no no and I'm sure you would not want to do that. You've said you've done a few upgrades, I assume engine, so that leads me to believe that you've done some modifications to the truck already, but just how much are you willing to do?

You could cut the pocket off of the door panel and fabricate a new piece for a 6" mid or you could just buy a set of the Qforms for a '91 S10 and put comps in. I know all to well what you have and the constraints you're working with. I always wanted a TY myslef.

I might not be the most knowledgeable here, but I'm probably at the top of the list considering your truck and audio. A friend of mine has had 3 CYs in his time so far, the last one he spent ~$15k to put in a LS1 in it. He asked for my help in the audio dept. Sadly he got rid of it at the end of the summer last year.

I'm not adverse to modifying the truck. Yes, it's a collectible, but it's MY collectible. I'll put a washer/dryer in the back if that's what I decide I need //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I started the thread by saying "No kick panels", but the more I look at it, the Q forms may be my only way to get decent sound in these trucks. I'd really like to keep the door pockets, as the truck has limited storage space as it is, and I've already lost my glove box room to something else.

So, with that said, assuming I'm willing to go with Q forms, what is my best approach? Dash 4x6 plate + components + 4x10 in rear? Ditch the rears? Ditch the 4x6's?

Just some really good 6.5 comps in those q-forms is all you will need. Lots of options for comps with that 500.2 amp.
Yeah, I actually started digging through boxes today and found a set of Boston Acoustic Pro Series 6.5(3) that I forgot I had. 6.5", 4", and 2" tweeter, with a crossover per set. 250w RMS. They need new tweeters, but will kill a few birds with one stone. The 6 1/2" and tweeter will go in Q forms, 4 inch will go in a conversion plate in the dash. Should match up nicely with the 500.2

I'm torn on the rear speakers. I really don't want to bother with something custom to fit 6x9's back there, and they seem like they would be drowned out anyway.I think I'm going to just leave them empty rather than put new 4x10's in there. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Posts with a link to info about the speakers are showing as needing moderator approval for some reason. Weird.

Anyway, here is what I have IS a component set that includes the 4" mid range speaker. I already have it, and the crossover is designed for it. Is there a reason not to use it?
