Or you could just sit in the tree next to your car and snipe their ***** ***** when they take a look inside the trunk

if u can get ur hands on a security camera (a broken one will also do the trick)...have it posted up there looking down on the car...alot of time the camera's presence alone wil be a deterant........ also try to use Ibolts and pad lock ur box to ur car use one way screws or irregular headed security screws (ace hardware store) for ur speakers and subs......and find some way to bolt ur HU down lol........ i used ot have Ibolts, pad locks, and steel cable securing my box down in my old maxima

How about hooking the siren output of your alarm to a 12v relay. Then hook that into your remote wire for your deck. Then just set the volume on your system to a level that will surely piss off some neighboors and wake them up. Thief sets off your alarm, the siren goes off, and your stereo starts pounding out some loud *** song at 3am. Everyone in the neighboorhood will be awake calling the cops. haha

lol figured he wouldnt steal it if its wanging while the alarm is going off... and if he does atleast he has some tunes to listen to while he does it I guess.

I know my neighboors would have a shit fit if my stereo was going at it wide open in the middle of the night. I know there would be half a dozen cops there in 5 minutes.

if your gas tank isnt in the way, run a lag bolt through the bottom of the box through the bottom of the trunk and bolt it down
this is a great idea- find a spot where nothing is in the way and run a bolt from the inside of the speaker box (bolted down before you load the sub in) This serves two functions- theft protection and keeps the box from sliding around.

Another thing to consider is full coverage insurance or renters insurance so if your gear gets jacked you get new stuff.

The best way to deter theives is to not make them aware of your system. Once any competent theif gets the notion to jack your stuff, you're pretty much screwed. People talk about bolting boxes down (should be anyway), assembling the box inside the trunk, even see people talk about moutning razor blades under dashes etc sometimes.... its nuts. Like was said above, if the theif finds out he cant steal it, 9 times out of 10 he's gonna trash it anyway. Can't get the sub box out? He'll put his shoe through the cone. Cuts his fingers on razors mounted under the dash? Great, now you have a stranger in your car with bad intentions AND hates your guts personally.... he's gonna break anything and everything he can in your ride.

Security works in stages. The first stage is the most effective, the last is the least. Stage one is keeping the system hidden. If stage 1 fails, stage 2 is deterring the theif from actually breaking into your ride (if its especially difficult, he'll move on to a lesser prepared victim). This is where car alarms start to com into effect. If stage 2 fails, stage 3 is full blown defense of allowing the theif inside the vehicle. This is where alarms are utilized most, keeping the theif out by scaring him and warning other people in the area. If stage 3 fails, you are screwed jewed and tatooed... accept it. Razor blades under the dash and hidden lag bolts aren't gonna save your stuff. If you really want to make a positive improvement on your security 'system', spend the most effort working on stage 1, followed by 2 and 3.

I'll throw this out. Unless it was a crackhead, once they break into your car, they are pretty sure you will be getting a boatload of new stuff and come back again to jack that too. So if your car stands out in a crowd, or you have built a reputation as the "car audio" guy, or the theft happened out in front of your job or your house, you might want to wait since you are inviting it to happen again unless you make things more difficult.
