hello all. i have a psi reconed AQ hdc318 in a 7.5 cube boxed tuned to 32 hz. Powering it i have a hifonics brz1700, and yes i know it could use much bigger of an amp. this was a budget build so bare with me. I have a rockford t400-4 on my mids and highs that i got for an unbelievable 30 bucks! and all 4 door speakers are rockford prime 6x8s that i got for free. i knu koncepts 4 gauge wire from the front to back battery and a 250 amp fuse at each end. 4 gauge wire from my alt to battery as well. voltage wise its great even with stock alt. Im loosing .3 volts revved up at full tilt. now heres what i need help with. i have an older radio, kenwood kvt717dvd. i have a clarion EQS746 that is after the radio then obviously goes from the equalizer to the rockford amp. i still have the sub amp suffering with the head units 2v pre outs. how should i tune my mids and highs amp with the equailzer? should i put the main rcas from the head unit to the equalizer to the main in or aux in on the equalizer? the equalizerrs aux in has adjustable gains which i was thinking would make things louder with less distortion. right now i have it on the main in though. my sub amps gain is just under half and the gains on the rockford amp is a little less than 3/4. right now i have all of the stuff set how i like it but the mids and highs just dont seem loud at all to me. i know they are just primes but they sound dull for what they are. i use a dell venue tablet for my music or the 4th gen ipod touch and they make everything sound alright but my buddies beats audio phone makes everything sound amazing. i there anything i can do to fix this? also does anyone have any pointers on how i should have my gains set on the rockford amp? thanks! im just trying to get most from this budget setup. i want to upgrade my door speakers and change to 0 gauge but i was in a car accident recently that should have ended my life and no longer can work anytime soon because of it. so funds are low..
