Need some opinions here

Im running a alpine Type X in a vented box the vent is 12inch in lengh by 1inch width. Im powering it with a pdx 1.1000 alpine Amp. Also have a diesel audio 4 farad capacitor. All my concections are perfect.

I have noticed that i can smell the voice coil, almost like its burning. I had the amp at half gain. it would start smelling like this after about 15 minutes of play. I never turn my deck more than half way, cause i really dont have to.

Your more than likely clipping your amp. Set it with a scope or dmm. Could use more port area also

thats a small port, but i bet you are clipping the amp, set it with a multimeter, also dont crank the bass boost all the way up, could be low voltage to your amp to, type X isnt really their 'loud' sub, should have gotten a type r

Alright thanks guys. Yes gorillajoe it is pretty new i got it all hooked up like 3 weeks ago or so. The type R's are louder than the X? how so

Type R's are meant to get stupid loud in ported enclosures and take a beating. Simple as that.
