I have a pioneer pro comp 12 2ohm sub. I purchased a cheaper 1.75 cuft ported box running a ppi 1000.1d amp @1 ohm.

I have noticed that this setup only is extremely loud and stong sounding with certain frequencies. Please bare with me for i may not be using the right terminology when trying to describe my situation. Certain rap/hip hop songs sounds excellent (like make you want to remove yourself from the car) and other songs it sounds like i have a walmart 8" sub or either 6x9 speakers trying to pump out some bass.LOL. Its only a 2 or 3 certain pitches or whatever where it sounds good.

Is this soley because of the box, the sub, the Hz setting on the amp, or what. speaking of the amp. The only thing i have messed with on there i think is the gain. What is the hz rating or whatever supposed to be on. I am lost on that.

I can tell you that the last system i had 5 years ago was 2 audiobahn 1206 or 1208 flame q subs with an audiobahn 2400w amp. the subs were in a ported style box just like this single one is but it was obviously made for 2 subs. Songs that i play now sound like crap but would absolutely bring the house down with my other set up. The poineer that i have is new. maybe 2 months old.

sorry for the long drawn out story here. Just trying to get a better understanding of this. I have considered selling this speaker but not dead set on it. I have heard of people having good reviews on the american bass subs.

Your prefab box is part if the issue here. They tend to be tuned to high. You need a custom ported box. Then possible a new sub. You are correct the ab subs are nice

The box is everything....but u gotta understand...when u tune a box u generally sacrifice tones...if u tune it high it picks up higher bass notes really well...if u tune it low then the opposite.....u need to tune the box according to the bass u play...and prefab boxes are a curse...don't mess with the subsonic filter on the amp unless u know what ure doing...
