Need Some Input About My Car

yes. sell your POS and get something new.

I would get at least an 05 focus though.. iirc thats when they started putting the duratec in them.

If you look hard enough you should be able to find one.. for cheap.. around the higher end of your budget i would guess.. they don't hold their value very well.. but rated high for reliability.

I would go with the VW, have you considered an SUV, maybe a jeep cherokee, the 4.0 has decent power, and is audio friendly, alright gas mileage, and can haul a good amound with it, and they are easy to find in your price range

you should definately get a truck or suv and lift the hell out of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif. thats what i want to do with my grand cherokee, but no 4x4 ftl //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.

I've thought about SUVs too actually. Something smaller like a Cherokee as someone mentioned, or an Explorer. I think I want to stick to a car though, whether it be a coupe, sedan, or hatch.

Thanks for all the help guys.

ahh SUV's dont forget about the pathfinder or xterra.. xterra will probably be a little out of the price range though. But you can find older model pathfinders with the 6 cyl pretty easily in good shape. Ive seen Quite a few for sale in G-Ville/spartanburg/easley area. decent on gas, and even the ka24e (4 cyl) motor in the pathfider will still give you a little punch, be better on gas, but of course, you will lose power. but for sure stay away from the 240's and 300's, As sweet as they are, i can not see a feesible way to justify the costs of repairing all of the body damage, and just trying to keep up with the costs to maintain them.

How many miles on the Sentra, you gotta realize that the motor on that thing will keep running as the rest of the pieces fall off.

If you don't mind the faded paint and driving the same care for a while longer a brake job, getting a few small things fixed is going to be cheaper than making new payments or paying outright for a new car.

I have a 88 Sentra I drove until 220k and now have a 01 Sentra that has 118k now and will last at least that long also, it is my commuter so I don't really care how it looks and 28+mpg is nice.

Well, besides the fact this thread is old as hell, I guess I'll go ahead and update on the situation. I'm still driving my pos Sentra. It's got about 180k miles on it right now. All the problems are still there as I'm going to try and ride this thing for as long as I can. I've been talking with my parents about giving this sentra as a hand me down car to my sister who will only need it to drive around town.

I'll probably use some of my student loans from next semester along my savings from my job and parents help towards getting a newer car. Probably at least a year 2000 of whatever car. Still wanting a small to medium sized car. I drove my mothers brand new Fusion and I absolutely hate how big it is. I feel like I'm driving a monster truck when I go and try to park it. So then, something like a VW Golf or Ford Focus is still what I looking for, but it'll probably at least December before I'll be serious about it.

Oh, and I'm definitely much less concerned with how fast it goes and etc. I just want a car that can handle a wreck well and has good acoustics.

If it were me, I'd keep the sentra. Heck, even if you get another car, keep the sentra. Stick a 2 liter dohc motor in there, fix it up all pretty and go autocrossing with it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

(Or sell it to me for super cheap so I can do the same thing)

Either or.

Well, it's going to be staying in the family, so it'll always be around if I need it again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well, this next chance I have to get a new car will probably be my only chance for a LONG time. Mainly because my sister is going to need a car soon which puts my parents in the dilemma of buying my sister a car that she will only need to drive around town in or give her my car and let me get a car that is more suited to what I need it for.
