Need some info

The install im currently planning will consist of two 20.1s strapped. Im debating on what extra batterys to run. Currently i have a red top up under the hood. Im wondering if the brand of batterys used in the back matters. This isnt a comp. vehicle. STRICKLY DAILY DRIVING. no bumping with engine off. Orginally i was planning on using 2-3 yellow tops in the back. Then i was searching around and came across another member who was using, i believe, some everstart maxxx batterys. He mentioned it was fine for what he was doing. I believe our goals are the same; far as having a loud daily setup and not playing music with the system off. So are the optima yelllow tops still worth it? Or for my needs a different battery will serve me good.

Also, what would be the minimum batterys you would run in a set up like mine. Of course i might go a battery or 2 above the minimum, just making sure i dont have any voltage issues. Needless to say, yes im investing in a h.o. alty also.

BTW, this is an suv install. so batterys will be placed inside cabin but im planning on building some sort of enclosure to house the batterys in. I hear that some batterys give off fumes, so no matter what batterys i pick, they will be in some sort of housing.

Ha, thats the point. Of course i want to spend little as possible... But i dont want to half arse it also. I dont mind going with the yellow tops or something similar. But for my needs, if its not totally necessary, then i want to go the cheaper route.

Another question also, i thinking of doing 4 BL 15s on those strapped 20.1s @ .5 ohms...But i dont want to underpower the woofers. I see people on here puttin 1500w rms to each BL sub and i dont want to underpower them. So do u think the BLs would be fine or should i go a step lower and get 4 Q 15s

I think you'd be ok with the yellow tops. 2 yellows in the back and whatever you have up front should be able to handle whatever the 20.1's can muster up. Also what size alty you plan on getting?? That is what will take most of the strain since you won't be doing any burps with the vehicle off. That is when you need crap loads of batteries. A good size alt (say at least 200, 250 would be better), lots of 1/0 or larger wire and 2 yellow tops should keep plenty of voltage to the 20.1's.

As far as the question with powering the BL's or Q's I can't help a lot. I have no experience with either of them. With running the 20.1s at .5 (.25 each) you should be getting between 4-5K of power. Closer to 5k I'd say. so thats around 1250w to each sub. You deffenetly won't hurt the BL's with that amount of power. Personally I'd rather under power the BL's a little rather then over power the Q's. Idk much about either sub so I could be wrong...

Hope this helps ya out a little bit. Still can't wait to see this setup take shape!!!

I was thinking about trying out a knukonceptz alt. I think they make either a 200 or 220 for my truck. If not them, probably dom. I think his alt was more like 240.

Yea, the alt will be the heart of your electrical system. I would focus on that the most. Also I would worry about having large gauge wire before thinking about batteries. You could have all the batteries in the world but if you don't have big enough wire its all worthless. Like said above, 2 yellow tops and your stock battery should be able to handle the 20.1s fine as long as your playing with the vehicle running.

oh yeah, i was planning on having lots of 1/0 guage wire and a good alt...But i didnt know if i could get away with using a cheaper battery for my needs.
Do you have any info on the batteries or links to what you had in mind???

Bump for someone with more knowledge then me to help out...
