Need some help!

My friend and I are putting in some new 6x9's in his 93 Tacoma. He just had a new cd player installed tonight. There were no speakers in the rear when the vehicle was bought. But tonight we found out that there is a wire harness that runs back there with a plug. We cut the plug off and then a fuse went out. We fixed the fuse problem, but we have another. How do we find what wires to connect the speakers to from this old harness? There are 7 wires and we still have the plug which shows the relation to each wire meaning, ether across from a certain color or above a certain color if that has anything to do with it. Example Red is over White so we connect those two. We need help ASAP because he is coming over tomorrow to finish.
