need some help here

okay well i bought some new subs bout 2 weeks ago. hooked up my amp and it pounded hard, but now it seems as if my bass it cut in half. i checked settings and checked the subs both work. not making any weird sounds. i have my volt meter installed and it shows sometimes at 13.4 volts and when i turn the bass knob up to increase my subs volume the volts drop but the bass does not get louder. if i unplugg the connector to the bass knob the subs get louder and have more bass. amp does not get hot and its not going into protect mode

is there a possibility that after the subs suspension loosens up a bit that it takes a little more power to get it going? like if the subs suspension was brand new it banged harder till you loosened it up?

or am i just needing more power supply to the amp?

You have a voltage drop that is most likely the result of a poor connection at the power cables, wherever the voltage drop is occurring the problem is between there and your power source aka battery..

It's not your subs or head unit or amplifier, a simple power supply issue that is the result of a poor connection...

Don't over think the problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok because this is the first time ive went above 1000 watt set up. and they used to hit really hard now it seems as if i need to increase my amp settings , and im finding myself increasing things on my headunit to get the sound i had when they were new and i dont like to do that because i know that it will start sending dirty signals to my amp. i was thinking that i broke them in and now i need more power to get a good kick. or maybe my amp is just not powerful enough. i am probably running around 750-800 to each sub . they are 1200 rms, that is not underpowering them is it? i do have plans on upgrading my alt to maybe a 240 soon. someone mentioned to me that i may not be getting enough power from my stock alt and at a certain volume point i may not be seeing a increase in bass from my amp because the power is insufficient . but they used to slam pretty hard so idk. i live in a apartment complex and i never turn my system on here no one knows i have something in my car so id have to go somewhere to check everything out. i may redo my power and ground cables because ive had them for a few years now. they might just be bad cables. or a bad connection like you said somewhere.

i got a quote to rewind my alt to a 300 for $200

guy is willing to clamp the alt as well in front of me and has warranties,

they specialize in rewidning alts to higher amps and other electronically items for vehicles and has been around for a while here .

also my alt is 8 years old. stock 160 amp but after about 4 years of abuse from car audio it may be on its last leg?
