Need Some Guidance

Hey all,

I'm new to this site, but not car audio. Although it has been a while. I've been out of it for a while and my tastes and/or goals have changed.

Current project:

2006 Ram 2500 Diesel Mega Cab

The idea is to go the route of SQ. I've been thinking of 2-3 8" subs, buying the navigation bezel and getting a double din head unit and add components plus a pair of 6x9s in the front. Obviously an amp or two would be in order.

I need some guidance because the brands I used to know are not really the quality they use to be.

Previous experience has been with DD sub, Autotek amp, Eclipse head unit , Diamond Audio components.

Thanks for any help.

I'm hearing eclipse and diamond products are decent, but I don't have experience with them exactly.

8" subs would do go with an sq build, make sure the enclosure is built specifically to suit the subs.

AS Far as 6x9 coax go, I'm hearing they aren't the best choice for sq, that's why I'm replacing my fosgates with a pair of 6.5 components.

Proper crossover settings and volume/gain settings play a huge factor in how it will sound.

best way to get you system sounding good is by doing research, you'll learn ALOT. Start reading, what you come across that you don't understand, look it up. Sometimes I have 10 tabs open in my browser to things I don't understand by reading in a single article.

I think I've narrowed down the head unit. I'm looking at the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH. Will I be able to use my iPad with the USB connector? I've seen where they accept iPhone, but not iPad. I would think its the same thing I just want to confirm.

What are your thoughts on the following pieces?

Kenwood components KFC-XP184C

JL amp - XD600/6

JL sub - 8W3 (x2)
