need some advice

I need some help. I had a alpine mrp m350 amp running a jl 8w3v2 (4ohm), and I wanted to get a little more out of my amp, so I bought a memphis mcp8d4 sub and wired it to 2 ohms. I still wanted a little more, so I bought an alpine mrp m500 and I think I've overpowered the sub. I had it turned up pretty loud yesterday, and the sub quit working and then i could smell an electrical burning smell. a couple of hours later, it started working again. I'd like to stick with an 8", cuz I already have the box but I'm trying to get it louder(don't need more bas). My door speakers seem to run away from the sub when I turn it up. Is there a sub that can handle 500watts and get me more, or should I try two 8"'s? Would two be louder, or just more bass? thanks in advance.

that memphis was only rated to 150rms so you overpowered it by 350watts. try a dd11508. it will be able to take the full 500rms

I assume I need a better sub, that's kinda what I'm wondering. which one would work the best

How much u want for the memphis? but yea you did give it too much power.
