need some advice

i posted this over in the head unit section, but figured id post it here too.

I just bought a '93 Cadillac Seville sts with the Bose system in it. Only problem is, it's missing the the head unit.... Ive been told that the only way for the system to work is with a stock Bose head unit. Is this true or can I get other head units the work with this system?
