Need some advice...

<-- Yes, that's me.
I'll try to keep the post short here.

Looking for 2 12" subs to be powered from a Kicker ZX750.1 amplifier, and I'm really looking for SQL, but I'd like it to have a nice good boom to it too.

Budget is preferably under $300, and I'm looking at several brands at an audio shop local to me, specifically the Diamond, Cerwin Vega, and Kicker brands. Along with a few others, like the PowerBass, which run a bit cheaper, but are a bit more obscure (At least to me
Two 12" Vega Subs, V-Max's, are $300 with a box.

Two 12" PB Subs, not sure which, but either L series or M series, are $200 with a box.

Two 15" Diamond Subs, D3's, are $550 with a box.

Other options welcome. Recommendations? I don't want to trust the opinion of just the person trying to sell them, I'd prefer some hard evidence from unbiased people.

I like the first one there, but it's most likely going to be out of my budget.

And I see both are dual 4 ohm subs. I'm guessing I'd just be wiring 2 of them in parallel then?

And is there any recommendations that would be a possibility from an audio shop?

In my personal experience you will pay more from your local shop as opposed to buying online. From what i understand woofers etc. offers warranties just like you would get from a local shop on their products. I almost always buy my gear online and have had some great experiences buying right here... Just my $.02

Main reason is to try them out before I buy them.

Other is that I was first looking at the Diamond/Vega subs, which don't have any online dealers.

I'm open to pretty much all suggestions, though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Edit: Sniped, but what's the sound quality on those kickers? Most I've heard haven't sounded too great, so...

Of the first choices, i like the diamonds, i have a friend that runs them, (not sure the model # though). find something local to you, see if you like it then look for it online, you might save some cash //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif also, prefab boxes almost never in my experience sound as good as having one built to the specs. for the drivers that you buy...

edit: nvm

Second question here.

I'm liking the Kicker CVR's as a good possibility, and if I don't step up to the Vega/Diamonds, then I'll almost certainly go with them.

If I was to build a box, what would be a good tuning frequency for a ported box? And would it be better to build a sealed box for these, considering I want to avoid at all costs damaging the subs?

For SQ, go with the high end MB Quart 12, run it sealed at about 1.2 cubes per sub and you will still have good lower end. I have 2 of these in my Lincoln LS with Infinity amps and Infinity components. It sounds great and have $1400 in the whole system.

If I was to go with the Kicker CVR's, and had finally decided to go with a personally made sealed box, then what size should I be looking at building? What would be ideal for these?
