Need some advice for my setup

My first post here....and any car audio forum.

Have not been around car audio for a while so I thought I would put some subs in my truck.

I just bought an Alpine PDX 1.1000 amp to power some subs.

A friend of mine gave me 2 JL W6 10 inch woofers.....V1

I was reading the specs and it says they are rated at 300W RMS.

Specs also say they are 6 ohm DVC which i verified with an ohm meter.

Should I wire these subs in parallel for a 1.5 ohm load and turn the gain down.

OR...

Wire in series-parallel for a 6 ohm load....because this amp seems to be a little too powerful.

OR...

Don't be scared...wire to 1.5 and crank it.

Any suggestions?

I would love to tell you to go for the 1.5 and crank it, but I would never do it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

well if i am reading this right i would wire them two 3ohms. your amp is not stable at anything less then 2 ohms. As long as you dont crank them a lot of for long periods of time i would think they would be fine. you would only be runing them at 500w rms at full tilt. to wire them to 3 ohms wire both subs vc in series then wire them to the amp in parellel.

Two dual 6 ohm woofers wired series/parallel would still be 6 ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Ah....there goes the 1.5 ohm idea then.

Thats what i'm seeing too.

If this amp is regulated to run 1000w at 4 ohms.

Is there a way to find out the wattage if I presented a 6ohm load?
