Need simple help wiring sub to amp.

This is my first system and I'm not quite sure how to deal with dual voice coils. My sub is 4ohm dual voice coil 300rms/600peak and my amp is the one in the link at the end of this post. Should I run one channel @4ohms to each voice coil, just one channel to both voice coils, or bridge it to both coils? It doesn't say the ohms when bridged so I'm not sure what to do. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hmm...I'm not sure if its stable at 2ohms, bridged. At this point just run one VC to each channel.

If you find that it is stable at 2ohms bridged, connect both blacks together, and connect both reds together (in order to wire the sub VCs in parallel) and connect the leads into the right slots on the amp.

That amp is only supposed to be 4ohm stable mono. If you are worried you might fry the amp then just wire one channel per coil. But I would try it at 2ohms bridged and see if it goes into protect or not.

I didn't know what would happen if it was 2ohms bridged and I hooked it up to a 4ohm sub. Are you saying it should be ok if I bridge the sub for the mono RMS and then wire the voice coils in parallel? I thought the amp needed to run 4ohms to a 4ohm sub. Is there anywhere online I could read about this stuff? I searched before making this thread, but I couldn't seem to find anything about the ohm aspect of wiring.

Usually you dont want to drop the amp lower than what it recommends. But since it'll only be at 2ohms you should be alright just to hook it up and see if it will go into protect or not. Here is a little wiring guide that will show you the different coil configurations. And when wiring subs to an amp, the amp will only see the load of the speakers. Since you have a dual 4ohm sub, you can wire it for 8 or 2 ohms. That is the load the amplifier will see.

Yea... you can TRY bridging to 2 ohms... I've had a kicker impulse 2channel at sub 3 ohms and it handled it fine... Best choice would be to get a dual 2 oh woofer, or even better a single 4!

It looks to me from that wiring guide that wiring it in parallel will result in 2 ohms, so I should be ok if I go that route and bridge it, right? That wiring guide is exactly what I needed and couldn't find before. I wish I had that before I got the sub. Thank you. I got the dual coil sub by newb not knowing better mistake and sort of the advice of someone else. Oh well. The guide will help and maybe I'll try bridging and see if it goes into protect or not. ...How do I know if it does that? :p Will it just stop working or something? I'm too new at this to know what that is. Thanks again for your help. This forum rocks.
