need same size sub as 12w6

I got a custom box made for my truck which now houses a 12w6v2. I blew my 500/1v2 pushing it so I ordered a Sundown 1500d. I know this sub is too powerful for this sub so I can either run it at a lower ohm/turn it down/or upgrade to better woofer. The pic of the box is below and the shop built it at JL's specs for this JL...Its a tight fit so what would be suggested? Pic of box is below...

Yea, thats why I put that as one of my options DA. But if I got a 1500 why not use it like its supposed too. Thats why I said I could also get a 'better' sub thats about the same dimensions but Im not real familiar with DD and Fi dimensions like some of these other guys. I figured I would see some other options that I could put in this box.
