Need Recomendations for Exterior Speaker System

My parents want to put a stereo outside on their deck. What I have in mind, is doing some ceiling mounted speakers in the soffet of the roof, as well as a pair of the same speakers installed in my shop (the areas are very close together). Just looking for ideas on speakers and a receiver. He would really like to stay under $500 total, but cheaper would be great.

Dont have any pics... But its approx 50' x 15'. Not enclosed at all. Doesnt have to have great imaging or anything. They just want some music out there.

for a receiver Just go to CC, best buy, or american and pick up a receiver. That would probably be the easiest because your not looking for mind blowing SQ correct?
