x2 i paid less than half that for my pair and that was not that long ago. But to each his own I suppose.

I'd raise the xover to 4k if you want to throw a ton of power at them. Never tried them, but 50-100watts is a LOT of power for the majority of the tweeters out there. Extra power not being used is called headroom and isn't a bad thing...

Seas Neo's might work for you, but they won't tear your head off as they're pretty mellow for a metal dome...

well i have realized that i prolly dont need that much power and it is nice to have the head room, but im looking for something that will take a good 60-75 watts and play good down to 3.5k

i want them to be really crisp at the top end and scream when i want them to. i also need something around the size of the vc 100's as i would not like to be able to drop them into tweeter hole for the vc100's without alot of fabrication.

anyone else have any suggestions besides mls?

You may of damaged them when you had them crossed at 2.5k. I have mine at 6k with around 50-55 watts and they still tend to be a little bright. I second the Seas Neo suggestion but are your tweets on or off axis?

6k is uber high. your midrange probably hates you.

Thats the thing, I had mine crossed that low eventully. Before I got my ID oems, I had the VC100s crossed at 3000hz running active off my Orion, giving them a little break in time and to had a little "brightness" to my very then dull sounding front stage.

They had no issues with the power, and I would gladly give it to them again. I dropped the crossover point to 2.5hz (or as close as I could to that number as the memphis I was using for an active crossover, did have the exact cutoff points labeled.)

I got a pair now im not sure what im going to do with, wanted to go active again, but lately be looking to invest in some ID comps so dont know.

But really loved the VC100s, excellent budget tweeter IMO. Suprised you had the issues you were having with yours.

Right now Iam not having any issues with them. I guess I was a little unclear in my post. I love the tweets but I havnt had enough time to mess with T/A or EQ plus I am limited to mouting points as I wanted to keep everything in stock locations. I know that they will sound better when I tune them but I also only have around 1hr playing time on them . My first set I had in my old truck smoothed out after 2 weeks. I know these should do the same.

As far as my comment about the low crossover point I was just saying it may have been a problem.

4in Coustics take care of that down to 250hz then the Exclusive 7s take over only a temp crossover point till I actually get some time to mess with it.
even w/ those 4"s I still think that's a bit high (beaming). I'd suggest a 3-4khz xover point.

edit: that brightness might be coming from your midranges..

they are about 15* off axis in stock location at about your knees, i wanted to fill up the stock tweeter location thats why they are there.

im thinking of eventually running some possible 3.5's or 4" where the tweeters are now then eventually moving them to the a pillar.

but as of now i am happy where they are at...

anyone have a link to the seas neo's?

i disagree.

yeah x2, i actually ordered a set of those last night after about 2 hours searchin through diyma. i felt that these were gonna be what i was looking for.

so everyone knows i just ordered the seas neos alum. and should be getting them within the next couple days and getting them installed.

im hoping there gonna do what i need them to and with all the reviews i have read on them, it sounds like they will
