i wired up my comps last night, but forgot to mark what wire i wired to my tweeter and which one i wired to my components. i used the same wire (kicker hyperflex 16 guage), and now im getting ready to put them in the crossover and dont remember what wire is for what speaker...

so how can i tell what wire goes where? 9 volt battery maybe?

I'd have a friend sit in the fron seat and then hook on ene of the unknown speakers to the tweeter output on the crossover. see what plays and adjust accordingly. dont hook it up to the mid output unless you know its the mid because that may damage the tweet

if that makes any sense

its not gonna effect teh speaker at all will it?
No, it shouldn't. 9 volts to a 4 ohm load is only ~20 watts.

Just hook it up really quick and pull the wire off quick, since it's DC it'll just push the cone out and stay there, unlike AC. But it will make a pop sound and you can tell which is which.

(this is how I checked mine since I followed factory wiring and wasn't 100% sure.)

but hooking up the mid to the tweeter output wont likely cause any damage just long enough to figure out what speaker is what. thats why im sayin you can hook up an unknown speaker to the tweeter output rather than the mid output and figure it out that way.

This is also correct. What I would do is play a like 4khz tone when your testing it, since both tweeter and mid should be able to play this okay. Most mids can play up to 5k+ safely, and tweets generally 2-4k at the low point, so with a 3-5k tone you SHOULD be okay.

Just hook it up to the tweeter output on the xover and see what plays sound. :p
