I am looking for the best combination of sql/spl in a 12 inch sub that would give me the best bang for my buck. I listen mostly to hip hop and like good bass, so need something that could provide that. A few subs that are high on my list are the re se and boston g5. I have also looked at companies like aq, dd, fi, ia, image dynamics, stereo intergrity, and few others but are not sure what to get and since this is an investment, I would like to hear anyone's opinions to help me make a good decison. I was set on the re se's because of the reviews of it being able to produce good bass, but since this will be going in a sealed box, I am not sure and seen a couple reviews saying ported would be better. Still leaning towards the se though.

I also am wondering whether or not to just get one say 1000 rms sub because it might produce more bass and take up less space. Either way, I am in the market for a good sub that will produce some serious bass, but have good sq at the same time. I don't want overpowering bass where it sounds like bombs are going off in my trunk and making an annoying rattling sound, however a little rattling to point where it is really not that noticeable would be great. My trunk is already dynomatted so this should help and the subs will be going in the back of an infiniti sedan. Thanks in advance.

after reading the first setence the g5 is the first sub that came to my mind. and then saw they were high on your list.. i got two g1's.. and honestly i love em.. they take double their rated rms with ease

i wanted to get a g5 or a couple g2's but i was too broke and wanted 1 ohm, so i needed 2.. but for $130 shipped i got two brand new g1's.. and granted neither of them will compare to a g5, but together.. they compare very well.. for cheap..

I have read good things about the g5 and liked what I heard on youtube, but are a little worried that it might not produce enough bass. I know I could get the pr's for them and that would help out, but need it to be loud. Thanks for the replies so far.

i would recommend getting 2 RE SE instead of just one sub that can do 1000w rms. ive never heard a g5 . the re se gets the LOW bass output right. i was pumping 1200w rms to one RE SE and the SQ was still very good [ until one of the cone to terminal wires got frail], i dont know if its because i jacked up the bass boost or the power i was throwing was too much.

now im going for 2 re se subs. it should sound equal or better than just one. GET THE RE SE AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED AND ONLY 155 EACH ON EBAY

Thanks for the replies. I have seen the rd sonance mentioned a few times when talking about good sq subs, so it is something I'll look into. I am more than likely going to get the se's but are still stuck on a amp to power them. It seems some people like the aq1200d and the ednine.1, but I have seen some negative reviews about both amps and aren't completely sold on them. Other amps I have looked at are the us amps md1d, ma audio hk1000d, crossfire, memphis, maybe a mmats, but a few of those are expensive. I want something with a low distortion rate, good db level, and will put out some power. The search continues...

I'd got with an SI Mag. I'm doing a similar setup right now - 1 sealed 12 on 600w. I'm actually going with a RE SE simply because I can get it for $110 and the Mag will cost $250. I may upgrade to the Mag down the road, but I just can't justify the extra $140 right now.

I ran a 15" Mag for over a year and it's the best sub I've ever heard.

I've got a nine.1 for sale, I read all kinds of crap about it before it came in which made me a bit nervous, but I realized it was all crap. Preferred it over my Sundown SAE 1000d, not a single negative I can report other than them not being super light weight

You should hear the v4's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif They make the v3's sound "pretty good" in comparisson. Output-wise your 15" would still win, but in sound quality there really isn't much of a battle.
