Need New Subs

I am looking into getting new subs for my 850 volvo. I cuurently have 2 JL Audio 10w0 in a sealed box powered by a kenwood amp at 150x2. I am looking for something that will be a little deeper bass, but nothing too big, seeing how that noise most peoples trunks make sound like shit. I was wondering what would be the cheapest and best route to take. I looked into maybe just getting a single nicer sub instead of 2 subs? What is the difference with these two options, and also maybe the difference in a ported and sealed box for either 1 or 2 subs. Thanks for your help

If I were you, I would look into getting a single sub and build a ported box for it accordingly. If you looking for cheap, theres tons of subs in the $100-150 range, just browse the forums and you'll find something.

Also look at eBay for equipment, they have very good prices.

I remember someone telling me that you loose alot of bass quality on ported boxes. They did say that a ported box gives you better sounding bass, but only at a small range of bass frequencies, where as a sealed box gives you a good bass at a larger tange of frequencies? Is this true at all?

No, a ported box should get lower than a sealed.... If you didnt fvck it up.

i'd look into resonant engineering. their se series is very nice, i was very impressed. and check ebay, i picked up my 10" for $130 brand new in the box.
