Need new speakers

Ditch the 680MP and step up to a 880MP. Get rid of the front CDT and get a set of Image Dynamics Chameleons or Build yourself a front set with Dayton mid and Seas Tweeter. Then throw a DD W6.5 in the rear for some thump.
Find some matching amps to power all of this and you are golden imho.
This is more of a "tight budget" setup. Why should i ditch the 680MP? I can't even find the 880MP (crutchfield.com doesn't have it and that's where i want to get my HU from because it comes with all the free mounts and manuals). I just searched for the image dynamics and they are WAY out of my price range.

The DEH-P880PRS is about $330 or more.

The 8" Solo in a vented box is capable of rattling things around, but I don't suspect you'll need any sound dampener unless you are going for SPL and listen to music that has long, drawn out bass tones. Again, it's one of those things that if you feel you need it after some time has passed, then you can add it later on down the line.

you are crazy!!! SPL requires deadening yes but SQ required it even more.

Yeah, i found the 880, it's nice but way too much. If i go for a HU, front components, midbass in the rear, and an amp to power those 4 speakers it's going to be around $550 and that's without the wiring and installation (if i plan on not doing it myself). That's right around what i was looking at when it came to the price range that i was working with.

Sound deadening is not required at all. It may be something that comes highly recommended, but let's not lead on anyone that may have a strict budget to work with.

I'm not speaking from the standpoint of silencing the entire car so that every tiny little detail is audible. I'm moreso speaking from the standpoint that extremely loud and long drawn out bass tones tend to vibrate the crud out of things and dampening will help remedy this.

I know of no one whom first installs sound deadening everywhere that they can, then decides which speakers and a sub would best match it with whatever cash they have left over. That's almost like buying a tupperware dish with a hefty price tag, sealing it, sticking it in the fridge, and then deciding what the best thing is you can afford with the money left over to put in it.

Don't mean to sound brash, but in my book the HU, speakers, sub, and amps come first and then you further determine what else you need from there as well as how much it will affect your budget.

Besides, I doubt Injected's goal here is attain competition level SQL with this setup. He's on his way to college and seems to me he just wants a nice daily listening system.....certainly nothing that would require going completely balls out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

one thing you mite want to do is get 6.5inch subs and place em on ur rear deck, and maybe get some deadening if you want to minimize the rattling if there is any. i would reccommend eu-700s and tangbang 6.5s

i actually have a set of eu-700s, D4 and you could wire them to 2 ohms and run em off channel 3/4 of the 4 channel, and run 1/2 for the front comps
