Hi guys, a while back i bought cdt es-45's and they were crappy and didnt sound good to me, well they blew, and the tweeters are still fine.

I need to get some new front speakers.

Running active in the front stage..

I have hertz in the rears and a arc 300.4 amp.

Also installed is a w505 and a alpine H701 processor.

Please advise.. as i cannot spend more than 100-150 on new speakers (atleast not right now .. not in my budget) but need to get some speakers to get the front stage.

Thank you.

Well i need something to replace the CDTs in the front doors.

The cdts were comps which i had installed earlier but they blew up on me..

Tweeters are working fine, i dont wanna replace them.

Just the speakers in the front doors...

ARC 300.4 is putting out 90x4 to the rear and front.

IDK if thats gonna be enough power for the front doors.

Also the sound is coming out of Alpine H701 processor.

So what should i do?

So you're going to run an active setup on a single 4 channel amp, for the rear and front speakers?

What do you want? you have made two threads about this but have not said what you need. No one can help you if you don't state, specifically, what you need help with.

you'll want to redo the passive crossovers if you are just replacing the door mids. a new speaker will have different performance and impedance curve. ideally, you'll use the H701 and go active with the fronts. what Hertz speakers in the rear? can they be relocated to the front or are they 6x9's? definitely add another Arc Audio amp for 6 channels total.

$150 is a low budget for good speakers, but it's possible if the speakers are used. What is your available depth? We know it's a 6.5" size, but depth is a critical dimension. Do you have an adapter now? if so, what? MDF, plastic, etc?

speakers performance is strongly controlled by installation, not just what speaker you buy. proper seals, decoupling, and enclosure are crucial. be sure to take pics of the speaker install, we may be able to offer advice. just screwing a speaker to a metal door usually won't give you good performance.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes on the rears i have 6x9 hertz so those can't be put in the front.

When i bought the CDTs i couldnt put them in just like that cuz of the depth issue, i tried buying 2 different types of adapters but the cdts rear diameter was so big that the adapters won't flush through the speakers towards the ring..

I know its a low budget for good speakers but i need basically anything good for that price, cuz i spent 350 no the cdts and they blew up on me.. i think it was an installation problem.. i have another 4 ch amp that i can use for rears and the arc just for the 2way active front setup.

I am not using passive crossovers i am running directly through the h701 to the arc amp..

What headunit do you have??

That is a shame you blew them :/

So you need some mid range speakers correct? What frequency do you need them to play at? and what size do they need to be?

I have a Alpine W505 Head Unit -> H701 Processor -> ARC 300.4 Amp

I need new mid range speakers, yes.

Idk what frequency i need them to play at. Tweets are playing the highs, i dont have subs installed.

I need full sound from the speakers as well as bass.

you have to have a passive crossover on the tweeters with your current config. the passive crossover is between the arc amp and the CDT speakers. active means Front 1 to tweeter amp channels, Front 2 to front door 6.5 amp channels, Rear to rear deck 6x9 amp channels.

you need 6 amp channels to be "active" with your configuration.

good midbass from door speakers requires a seal against panels, decoupled baffle, and deadened/sealed doors.

door speaker installation/system install i'm working on currently:

did you have bass boost on the front 6.5's? never use bass boost to get more output if there is none. the lack of output should be a clue they aren't installed correctly and you have phase interference.

"decoupling" means to eliminate a rigid connection between the two surfaces. you can use foam, non-hardening modeling clay, layers of sound deadening, viscoelastic damping glue (green glue), etc. something soft between the speaker basket and baffle or baffle and door.

How Decoupling Works – Green Glue Company

you also need a good seal between the speaker and the door panel. factory speakers have this, aftermarket do not and you have to do this yourself. the build log above shows examples.
