ID CTX65CS or Morel Tempo 6

My long search for comps is close to it's end. I'm down to these two options and would like some input. The Morel's are more expensive, does the "you get what you pay for" rule hold true here as well?

I've read lot's about about the IDs, but not much about the Morels. Whatever you guys know and can share is appreciated, especially if you've have past experience with either. Thanks in advance.

I'd be curious to hear the talk on these too as well. I was going to buy a set of morel's. I too have read more about the ID's then Morel's. Let's hear it !!

ive heard good things about the ctx set, pretty good mid bass, but they said the tweeter is nothing special(tho it does not have any problems either, like harsh, etc.).

if u can find some cheap crossovers, or maybe go active, could go DIY and get really great stuff

Yeah I thought about piecing together a set, only have 2.5" of depth and can't be any bigger then 6.5's. As far as tweeters go, I haven't even begun my research on that.

I've contemplated piecing together a set also but I'd need passive crossovers because my HU isn't active capable and I'm only running a 2 channel to them. I also want to avoid going used which will limit my option on the diy set but if anyone can piece me together and link me to a set that they feel will out do either of the above options using new parts for the same price or cheaper than the Morel's. I'd consider it.

Same here, I've read a lot about what to buy but it's all just a blur...

I'd bet someone says PE or Madisound gear. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

biggest thing would be crossovers. i couldnt find any used ones for sale so i had to buy new, and that made my price go up.

im newer to DIY setups, i only know of what im using basically. i would suggest going over to diymobielaudio.com/forum they know a lot about it and can help.

but for a tweeter, here is what i would check out for starters.

DIYMA's Favorite Budget Tweeters #1 - DIYMA.com

im using a vifa XT tweeter, which did fairly well on the poll (3rd)

I'm also on the hunt for a good comp set. There's 100's of threads that are all basically the same "best components for under $200".

The problem with buying online without hearing them in person is not knowing how they will actually sound. Some people might think their speakers sound great when they lack in mid-bass or sound hollow, you know?

With all the options available in the DIY world, I'm also leaning towards this. Seas tweeters seem to be pretty good and don't sound too harsh.https://www.madisound.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=45_228_256&products_id=1140 By the time you're done going DIY you'll probably be close to $200 or more, but its worth it IMHO.

Yeah there's plenty of repeat posts, but thats good. It gives a variety of opinions as long as several different people chime in. I'm looking to go 8's in some kicks and tweets in my pillars. Just figured if I'm going to build kicks, why not put 8's down there.
