Need more mid-bass Sundown NeoPro 6.5?

Currently I've got an older set of Hertz HSK 165s (Not the current "High energy" ones, on a Hertz EP4 bridged to 2 channels so there's an.. okay.. amount of power available. But with the Z 15" in the trunk the system is completely un-balanced. Highs are fine, but mid-bass is practically non existent in comparison .. I'll only be able to run one per front door, I had 6x9"s in the rear deck but the pressure differential between the trunk and cabin of the car ruined them. (So now the rear deck is open to the trunk). Would it be worth replacing the two 6.5s in the front doors with NeoPros? Or should I go an entirely different route..

If you want mid bass you should not be looking at pro audio.
Look at you install and tuning. What are you referring to as midbass? 60hz or 100hz
Fair enough, 100Hz area, I feel like I need more cone area more than anything. Hoping i'll be able to find a pair of 6.5s that can get the job done.

The ones you have will do it. Is the door sealed and no backwave between the mid and door panel? Do they have power?
They are in the factory drop in spot, I plugged every hole I could find on the internal door panel, and also covered the inside of the external panel with sound deadener (Not that it counts for sealing just wanted to add that). They've got power and get moving. I'm considering taking the door panels off and playing with the EQ to see what kind of response I can muster from them. Currently the EQ is flat, and everything is crossed on the deck (So both amps are physically wide open in regards to HPF/LPF) right now its an 80hz cut at 12db but I think I may drop it to 60Hz. I'm not sure what it is, but high frequencies (60hz+) on this woofer/amp combo have unbelievable power draw and don't sound clean at all. There're issues with this build that's for sure, just trying to knock them out one by one.

I have the 8" sundown neopros. I love them, but am not using them for great midbass. Just clear and loud mids/highs. That's their intention.

Might look into stuff besides pro audio like previously stated. Also, door treatment does work wonders. I just go my driver's side done today and it's wayyyy better.

I doubt many 6.5's can produce true midbass to keep up with a Z15 ported at full tilt though

Its going to be hard to get enough midbass out of 1 set of 6.5's, unless your doors are really small or you make ported pods to mount the speakers in.

My Altima has some of the best midbass that I've heard out of a set of 6.5's, but it really doesn't compare to to my Bus. Having some 8" drivers at 200hz and down, and running 6.5" components at about 100hz and up. The 100hz cross blends perfectly since 6.5's don't really do that great below 100hz.

If you are stuck running one set of 6.5's, I would build some custom pods for them for best output.

You gotta get proper seal going on. Deadener alone is not a good enough material to seal big gaps and holes in the car you need somethign harder like metal or plastic. You can play with the EQ if you are not going crazy with the overall volume. If you havent done so already, run that set active.

Yea my bro had a set of $1000 diamond hex pro comp and they sounded like he had subs in his car. Was pretty impressive for 6.5s in the doors. He put some square bass block mat right behind the speaker attached to the door and also deadened the doors good.
