Need info on American Bass Amps

Need some info from anyone with decent knowledge and experience with ab amps. Specifically I am looking at the vfl120 vfl 4480 vfl 4800 and vflcomp 2.5k

Do they do rated? They reliable? Major differences between them? What does hybrid mean? And any other pertinent information also if I should be considering any other amps alongside these that I overlooked?

Thanks in advance

The vfl 120.1 is the highest quality of the bunch.

The hybrids are chinese, basically on par with Audiopipe.

The vfl 2.5k isnt as good as like a 175.1

I was mistaking the vfl120.1 for another amp because the one I was thinking was not $500 lol are any of of those newer vfl models worth buying? I was generally looking at the vfl4480 vfl 4800 and vflcomp 2.5k. Also the hd3 500 and 2500 are within where I wanna be spec wise. I am basically looking for 1500 to 2000 rms at 1ohm. I originally looked at the newer vfl line because I seen people saying they were very efficient.

What is the difference between the 4480 4800 and the comp 2.5k anyways? They all have very similar specs? And the comp 2.5k and the vfl 4800 even look nearly identical with the exception of having a different model name on the front.

never EVER buy a hybrid VFL EVER!!!!! EVERRRRRRRR even my sh*tty hifonics was way louder.

They had massive quality control issues when they first came out. Pretty much 1 in 3 would go up in smoke. Its better controlled now
Thanks.

Just wondered if Jeff was being sarcastic or not. Usually he has a dam good reason but now I know. And so will others when they see this.

Please explain.
many direct back and forth swaps, gain at 75% barely louder than door speakers. had to have bass boost to + 12 to get a little louder than my old hifonics bxi 1610.1D but with DIRTY sounding bass. However my hifonics swapped in was already loud at full power at 30% gain no boost or anything, nice clean bass. I thought it was just a bad lemon but turns out It wasn't just one 4480.1 the replacement that was sent had similar issues as well but only needed to be at +6 db boost.. Inconsistent quality as fk. Overall worst amp purchase I ever made.

Its a cheap 1.2k Chinese board, not Brazilian technology, not Korean. How the fk do you make 2400 watts with 4 gauge inputs being half the size of a typical 1600 watt Chinese amp and small as a Brazilian when its not even using full bridge Brazilian technology? Its fused for 120 amps as well. Anyone thats ever used one probably never had a better amp OR they got lucky and got an amp that actually made 1500 watts. Quality control is p*ss poor. Lots of people on FB and other forums had issues with the amp not outputting power LOTS. I wish i screens-shotted all of them. They weren't noobs either. Just guys like us being mislead into buying a product and got an unlucky draw for quality control. It was overly hyped up with no substance.

idk how much they improved the past generations but being burned badly left me salty as fk I'll never EVER recommend anyone risking getting a sh*t hybrid amp and going through what me and A LOT of bassheads went through.

Very good to know. Thanks for the heads up. I really do appreciate it. I have been a big fan of AB for long time but haven't tried any of their newer lines of amps yet. They looked too good to be true and I couldn't find much info on them as well as gut shots or anything. They don't even have the newer black looking ones on the AB website and if I remember correctly they don't have the gut shots of the newer vfl hybrid models on the websites like they do for the older vfl and hd line of amps.
