Need ideas....

...for a new car.

Want to spend between $20-22k after rebates and what not. Want something decently cheap on insurance. Something 04-06 for loan reasons. Good gas milage and something that has a decent aftermarket performance wise but isnt something that everybody else has.

I was thinking:

Mazda6

Mazda protege5

Nissan altima (4cyl)

Cobalt ss (2.4l n/a ecotec)

Ideas would be much appreciated.

and $500/mo insurance isnt realy in my plan. Nor is the 14mpg that it gets. Same with the eclipse...

EDIT: I wouldnt get a stang GT anyways, id get a GTO if i wanted to spend that much:yumyum:

well the protege5 production was stopped in 2003... Now you have the Mazda3 which comes in sedan or hatch. My buddy just picked up a Scion TC, which he chose after test driving several $20k cars, price for one reason, plus he liked how it handled and drove. I will attest to the handling capabilities of mazdas, however I dont know if the Mazda3 or 6 handles as well as the protege5 does. My car thrives for windey roads. Not much power, but definately a spirited ride
