Okay here's the deal. I had a kicker 600.1 amp and a kicker solobaric L5 sub. One of the lead wires on the sub broke and after I took it out I realized there is a tear in the yellow stuff behind the cone (I forget what it's called). So I'm gonna buy a new sub but I don't really wanna go kicker because I hear those lead wires do that a lot. It happened to that one after only 3 months. So what kind of sub would you guys reccommend with my amp?

Okay my friend had a 12" 700w RMS sub sitting around that I hooked up to my amp but it keeps cutting out and coming back on. Anyone know what the prob. could be?

BTW, I'm planning on selling this stuff I have to a friend who said he would get the kicker fixed. Then I'm going to buy a whole new system, I'm looking to spend about 500 to maybe 900 dollars. I just want sub (or subs) and an amp, my car already has pretty good speakers in it. Just wondering what you guys would suggest in that price range that will sound real good, and loud of course.

Gains are too high, try lowering them.

For 600 watts, try two Shivas, or maybe two Tempests. They're less expensive, sound great, and don't have those pesky tearing problems. http://www.adireaudio.com

I sound like a rep them! Whee.

The edit button is your friend!

For 900 - 500, you're talking a 400 dollar price difference. My subs + enclosure + amp + wiring cost less than that.

Directed Audio 1100.1d + XSite XS1280 subs? Original, but risky.

Whoah dude those subs are bad! I can't find that amp though.

BTW I meant I want to stay around 500 but I ussually end up spending more than I should. 500-700 is more like it.

Dude I can't find that amp anywhere... Do tempests only come in 15's? Because I want to stick with 12's since my trunk is kind of shallow. Even 10's would be cool as long as they bang.

I like audiobahns, my friend has 2 12" audiobahns that are **** nice. I was thinking about getting one of those prebuilt boxes but what's a good, long lasting amp that would power two 400w rms subs?

WOW. All I have to say is wow. If you're willing to pay for Audiobahn and a prefab box, I don't think I can help you much.

A viper 400.2 will do 400 RMS easy. They are pricey, but **** good amps. You can only buy refurbs, since they are not made anymore.

If you want 12s, Shivas will do that. Shivas are basically smaller tempests. If you want 10s, last I knew there were MTX 8000 10"s for $37 apiece, shipped, somewhere around here.

The prebuilt box with 2 12" 400w rms subs I'm looking at is only 189.99. I figure if I buy that then I'll have about $300 left to spend on an amp. Doesn't seem that bad to me, Audiobahns are durable subs aren't they?

Are shivas and MTX's good subs? Doesn't seem like they could be at those prices.

BTW I need 800w RMS at 4 ohms. Each sub is 400 rms.

Okay wait I'm confused... Most amps that aren't outrageously expensive will only run 2x400w rms at 2 ohms, but according to this the subs in the prebuilt box I was thinking about only run 4 ohms?
