Need help.

Bench testing it. You can check if it turns on. But if you want to make a radio out of the bench test, then you'll need to do other things to the setup. First of all, red ignition is when the radio is off, then turns the radio on at ignition. There is no ignition in bench test. Just turn on. So the off position of the radio automatically turns on in the off position. Secondly there is the yellow constant wire. You'll need an antenna to the hookup. In radio terms the name is resonance. Connections between the volts and AM/FM signals working together. Inductive reactance and conductive reactance. 120 volts line if you set the radio up to plug into the wall outlet. From the wires mentioned. I only see two speakers, so the pictures will be 4 speakers wires connected to the radio. Maybe you'll need a blue wire.

But a you'll need to check volts, ohms, amps to get it to specific. Virtual ground where the capacitor that you may have to add. The transformer down to 15 volts. A resistor or two in the setup. All this must be included with the wiring, if you want to make a real radio work. Plugging it in to the wall outlet or just by using the battery and alligator clips for the battery hook up. You will be a technician after this because you'll be setting up a bench test radio, without the car. Nice...

You're asking is bench test possible and listening to music or tape on the bench? It should be possible. If you set this up on first posting to this forum, not need to change any car radio. Easy on the set on any car from here on out. Lots of people tried this out already. I saw one on crutchfield to this.

I would probably recommend something bigger than a 5 amp power supply. Most radios require at least 10 amps. You will know for sure by looking at the size of the fuse on the back of the radio. Whatever that is, look at adding another 5 amps so your power supply isn't working so hard. I know it is not common for people to blast their radio to the max, but what if they do? Also, a bigger power supply will allow you to hook up other things like a phone charger plug or... Amazon has 12 volt 20 amp power supplies for $25.

I would build a box, which is preferably sealed. A 1 cubic foot would be fine. You can use wood. Then cut the holes for the radio and the speakers. The radio and speakers can share the same space in the box. If you are using more than two speakers, make the box a little bigger. Do not install the power supply inside the box. It will get too hot. However, it will be a good idea to have some type of a cover above the power supply if it is one with a perforated lid. You don't want dust and debris to get in it.

Gotta add a cigarette lighter socket while you're at it. 🤣
