need help!

hey, ive just got some extra cash and wanted to buy some speakers for my car, i drive a 1991 corolla hatchback. at the moment i just have standard head deck and speakers which are pretty bad. I listen to rock, alternative music and dont need a lot of bass and just listen to music from my ipod through an i trip. i was thinking of just gettin a pair of pioneer 6x9's (TS-D691R) and put them in boxes. umm i was wondering if i need an amp or if i can just connect the 6x9s straight to the head unit or if maybe i should go with some component speakers and tweeters instead, any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

components all the way. I just installed my RE comps in my left door and they dominate my Pioneer 3-way coaxials in my right door. Sure theyre a ***** to install but I think its worth it.

I wouldnt even bother with comps unless you get a good amp to power them with. Right now I am running about 100 watts RMS to each side and they sound nice and sound like they can easily take more. I got a cheap 4 channel amp off ebay for 30 bucks shipped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Look into Profile amplifiers, they are cheap and put out clean power. Look for either a 2 or 4 channel amp with will do about 100wRMS x2.

This will do nicely and not cost you too much. http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2217

I've heard pioneer doesnt make the best components, and theyre tweeters are very harsh. might want to do a little more research before deciding on a pair.

It took me about 3 hours to install the components in my left door... but now it looks nice and factory stock. Best to get it done right.

thanks for the advice boyos and if anyone is interested in a headjob, holla back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
