Hi guys, i need help deciding what build to go with.. i m deciding between ported enclosure or 4th order bandpass for my car which is a 1996 mitsubishi lancer sedan. I want to play lows and just make my subs play lows with authority and shake things lol I got 2 12" Earthquake DBXI subs.

I'd also like to know what my car's frequency peaks at? or how do i find this out?

look for earthquake dbxi 12 to search subwoofer specs in pdf on google.

Help me with anything you can think or or come up with? thank you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i would aim around 4-5 cuft ported tuned to 28hz .depending on what you can fit, lancer trunk gives you little to work with . 4th order out the question because of the room required to make the enclosure operate properly.

okay thanks man, so 28hz will give me low bass ? it will shake the whole car up nicely aye? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

28 is pretty low but it depends on your box style too and what way you fire everything.

I have my aero ports tuned at about 35 and it still plays down into the 20s nicely and shakes some stuff pretty good. My ports fire into a loading wall/slot though.

When i fired everything forward i had to tune lower to get the sound i wanted, but if i turned the box around and fired at the rear of the car i didnt have to tune as low.

What is this firing thing that your talking about?? i'll probably go with 30-32hz ... still deciding, btw how many cuft box would i need and is 3.5" slot port too much?

box dimensions atm is

W = 28

Depth top and bottom = 22

H = 16

Ive never used those subs but 3.5-4 cubes for a si gle 15 would probably be good.

By firing i mean what way you face the sub and port in your car.

Your box internally is 14.5 so your port would be 14.5x3.5 if you used a slot port so around 50sq inches of port.

Lots of people go with around 12-16" per cube for a slot so you would be in thay range with a 3.5-4 cube box.

I'll have to seal it off if i put it facing front right? but it sounds pretty loud when i face subs at the back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i was just wondering if 30hz would be fine for a single 15"?

its rated at 750w rms and 2000w max

lol i'll be giving it 1000w rms @ 2 ohms

i just hope it'll be good on lows or do i need more cone area? as in more subs?? or should a single 15" be enough?

does sub facing front sealed off vs facing back make a difference?
