My uncle had these subs in his old car, took them out and didnt want them in his new vehicle, so he said i could use them. i know nothing of subs and the sub box is sealed and i dont really want to open it since he is letting me use them and i dont own them. can anyone give me any info from these pics? does it already have an amp? will they be compatible with my jeep? (2003 jeep grand cherokee limited). Thanks in advance guys!

No amp installed yet; speaker terminals are on the back. Look like standard electronic store Pioneer subs in a custom built box. It's a fair setup to get some bass going; just toss it in the back and hook it up! It might be worse the the stock speakers though if you don't buy an amp for it though.

thanks ! any recommendations on amps? also how would I hook them up, sorry for sounding like a noob at this.

Properly? It's probably best to buy an amplifier install kit. You would need to tap power off the battery, tap a signal lead from somewhere so it only runs when keys are in the car (won't drain your battery overnight), and find a good ground.

If you're just running a cheap $50 amp, what I've done in the past was to splice behind the cigarette lighter for quick access to reasonable power for a small amp (I think like 10 amps if I remember right). Bonus if it's tied to the key switch then you can tie the signal and positive leads together.

Chain electronics stores usually have an install bay. It might be worth the $50 (plus parts) or whatever they charge to do the work. Amps are probably the least fun to install.

Oh, and for amplifiers to check out, maybe Kenwood KAC-5206, Pioneer GMA3602, or PIONEER GM-A5602 if you want something a little bigger. Anything with a crossover / low pass filter would be good to cut the high stuff and only push bass through. There's nicer / bigger stuff out there depending on how deep you want to dive in to that, and whether you're upgrading later or just need some noise in the trunk.
