I need suggestion for my system. To make a long story short, last year I had a stroke. I want to have a good system, but I can't build a ported box. I can build a sealed box if needed, but really I would like to buy a nice pre fabricated box. I really fell in love with the idea of buying one SA-15, but couldn't find a pre fabricated box. The Sealed box needed is 2.5 cubic ft. I now am thinking maybe I need 2 12's instead of the one 15". I also would rather not to use more then 1000 watts. The reason I don't want to go over 1000 watts, is because I don't want to need to get a new alternator or need a second battery.

I listen to mainly rap music and am willing to buy 400 bucks for total for the subs and 150 bucks for the box. I appreciate any suggestions.

My truck is a 99 ford ranger super cab.

You can do a ported box, in its simplest form, make a bigger sealed box than normal, cut a 4.5in hole in it and put in a piece of 4in pvc pipe. Just pay a box designer a few bucks on here to get the proper dimensions and length of port to use. Its very simple. If you can build a sealed box, you can build a ported box. It is not very hard, even if you did a slot port. Runing a sealed box is like getting a PHD and flipping burgers at McDonalds, its a tremendous waste of ability.

If you still think you cant do it, pay someone to build you a ported box and send it to you. It will cost more than if you did it yourself, but you are getting a killer value. The box is the most important thing other than the quality of install when it comes to adding subs. PM Pro Rabbit, he builds boxes and can ship them anywhere in the world, pretty sure he has a commercial account for shipping too, so it will be less than normal prices for shipping. YOu might even luck out and find a builder in your area and could avoid shipping costs. Don't be afraid to goto a local car audio shop and have them build a box for you. Just make sure they are legit and know what they are doing.

Thanks for the information everyone. I don't know what to do next, but that's my problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif . I don't want to get something ****** or getting stuck with getting something that looks or sounds like a Best Buy install. I already a 15" kicker comp on my truck now lol. I was hoping DC Audio, or Sundown would work , but looks like i really need to do something else. Thanks

I appreciate everyone suggestions. Long story short, I think I will wait a month or 2 and just pay a stereo store to do everything. I really don't wanna have a sub par system. But before I stop thinking about it, Is there anyway a sealed box with subs is gonna work. I just can't give up the thought that a couple of sealed subs isnt gonna give some great bass.. I know that you guys know what your talking and that I don't know crap about this stuff. Thanks for the honest suggestions.

Put that Kicker to work. They sound pretty good when ported. They are some pretty good subs.Try porting the box you have now.As stated before, you can just cut the ports yourself, and put the pvc bottom out, and bring them up a little at a time(Tune)until you like it, and mark it, cut it off,and put back in flush, silicone around it, and hit the pvc port with some blk spray paint, and your done.It will sound alot better ported than sealed IMO, plus that sub will also be working cooler, and possibly will last you longer getting that heat out of the confined space.I use to be a sealed sub person, until I did the first port, and with the same sub, and power, I will never go back to sealed..never.Just my opinion.and experience:) Try 2-2.5in ports for a 15 should be just fine..IMO:cool:
